Training video developed for Mondo USA helps improve quality and reduce liability

Organizations which depend on other companies to distribute, install or maintain their products face a dilemma in the marketplace. No matter how much care is taken in developing and producing a product, a large component of that product's success is in the hands of a third party. Mondo Inc., familiar to many as the supplier of flooring materials for the last 7 Olympic Games, addressed this issue by producing the first in a series of training video / webcasts. These tools improve dealer and installer knowledge of the product and illustrate the important steps they should take to ensure that the Mondo products live up to their world-class reputation. Through the use of video shot on actual job sites, custom graphics and precise narration, these videos illustrate concepts in a way which engages viewers and aids in information retention.

TDI Productions and Mondo USA were recently named 2nd place winners at the 2005 Communicator Awards for the first of these presentations which deals with the installation of Mondo's sport flooring products. 2006 will see additional productions focusing on commercial installations and on end-user maintenance of the products. Director Christopher Smith met with Mondo USA President Federico Stroppiana and the other heads of North American operations in Orlando, Florida in December of 2005 for the premier of these video training materials.

In addition to shooting the entire project, TDI Productions provided all editing, graphical and narration services. A large part of the editing was accomplished remotely at Mondo USA's Northeast office using a mobile editing system. This allowed immediate input from Mondo's technical and sales leadership as the edit developed. Reactions to preliminary edits from dealers and installers (the main audience for the production) have been extremely positive according to Glenn Hoy, Sales Manager for the Northeastern United States. This video training tool will become an integral part of the continuing education of certified Mondo installers.

To achieve the unique level of quality Mondo flooring offers, special steps must be taken at every level of installation. The new video training materials detail the entire process from removal of existing installations, preparations of surfaces, protection of the surrounding environment and the entire installation process. The final materials are available in both Webcast and DVD formats and will be used to instruct certified installers, subcontractors and other interested parties in the proper methods and precautions for installation of Mondo products nationwide.

This project was directed by Christopher Smith and John Schultz in coordination with Mondo USA's Northeast Sales Manager Glenn Hoy and National Dealer Support Manager Latasha Pittman. As video was obtained at work sites, it was encoded and streamed on a private webpage on the TDIProductions.com website. This allowed interested parties from Mondo's various regional offices to view footage within 24-48 hours and provide feedback to the directors. This not only condensed the time needed to select clips from the hours of footage shot on-site, but also ensured that the content was correct and that nothing needed to be re-shot. The entire sport flooring production is broken into six modules with a total length of 30 minutes.
